Quite frankly, finishing No. 5 in the team standings didn’t sit well with Dodge City High School wrestling coach Lars Lueders.
“I would be lying if I said I was overly pleased with our performance Saturday,” Lueders said of the Red Demons’ season-opening  Pratt Inviational. “However, there were many bright spots in the day.  Justin Lampe (140 pounds) making it to the finals was definitely one of them.
“Even though we didn’t perform at the level we know we are capable of, I fully expect this team to bounce back and improve.”
An important thing was simply getting on the mat and competing in a live situation.
“We got this first tournament in and I now know what we need to do in order to have a very successful season.  That includes things on and off the mat.”
Back to the team standings, Lueders said not having wrestlers in three weight divisions affected their final placing.
