Two Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference women’s basketball teams headed in opposite directions met Wednesday night at the Dodge City Civic Center.
And, after the dust settled, No. 18 Hutchinson Community College ran away with a 91-57 victory over the Lady Conquistadors.
Heather Robben scored 17 points, leading five Hutch players in double figures, as the Blue Dragons improved to 21-3 overall, 8-2 in the KJCCC.
Dodge City (3-21, 1-9), playing without injured leading scorer Robin Parker, trailed 38-25 at halftime, but it got away from the Lady Conquistadors after the break as Hutch scored 53 second-half points and won going away.
The Lady Conquistadors were led by guard Marcella Sedoc, who scored a game-high 26 points, including 10 of 14 free throws as they were a collective 24-for-30 at line.
Although DCCC forced Hutch into 21 turnovers, the Lady Conqs committed 35 themselves, contributing to their undoing,
Kayla Jensen added seven points and Chelesa Ryan scored six for Dodge, which returns to action on Saturday night, traveling to Great Bend to take on Barton County.
Tipoff is set for 5:30, preceding the men’s game at 7.
