Eighty long, cold minutes, and no satisfaction.
That's how the Dodge City High School junior varsity soccer team must have felt after Tuesday's match, which ended in a 1-1 tie with the Great Bend Panthers.
"Disappointing for them that we ended in a tie," Dodge City coach Virgil Hutchcraft said. "We had the lead most of that game and (to give) it up in the last few minutes is disappointing."
The action got started late in the game after a no-score first half. Both teams fought the weather to stay in the game.
But all it took was one goal to get things started, and that was when Macauley Vimiero stepped up and put the Demons on the board early in the second half.
With only two minutes left, the Panthers tied the match at 1-1.
Neither team could muster the strength to make anything happen before time ran out, with it ending at 1-1.
Even though it's a disappointment, Hutchcraft could still find some positives.
"They are playing hard," Hutchcraft said. "They should have come out with the victory. But it's not a loss, so we're happy about that."
The Demons JV continue their season on Thursday. DCHS will head to Maize to try and find some satisfaction.
