LAWRENCE —

Kansas Athletic Director Lew Perkins has been named to TIME Magazine's list of best sports executives.  Perkins is the only college sports administrator to make the list of 35 individuals, which includes team owners, team managers, league commissioners and other executives from around the world.
The magazine's website lists his positives as Kansas becoming the second school to ever win a men's basketball title and a BCS bowl game in the same year as well as Perkins increasing the athletic department's budget from $24 million to $55 million since his arrival in Kansas in the summer of 2003.
"It is a great honor to be included on this list," Perkins said.  "It is a reflection on the University of Kansas, Chancellor (Robert) Hemenway and all of our coaches and student-athletes."
