Demons move onto tournament championshipWICHITA — The Dodge City High School soccer team continued stay hot Wednesday, defeating Emporia 6-0.
“They came out with right type of attitude and got after it from the start,” DCHS head coach Virgil Hutchcraft said. “Once they did that, it built up from there. Got down after game and just said wow, because it was impressive how we played together and the energy we had. I am real pleased with the effort.”
With the Red Demons third victory in three games, Dodge City will move onto the Titan Classic Championship game on Saturday.
The Demons will take on either Wichita Trinity or Derby. Last season, Dodge City took fifth at the Titan Classic.
Victor Millan sparked the Dodge City offense with a goal in the 22nd minute and the Demons would score two more in the next 10 minutes.
“We saw as the game progressed, the Emporia defense when we attacked on one side, would shift over there and we saw we could exploit it,” Hutchcraft said. “We just saw that and it worked.”
Vicente Estrella who had the assist on Millan’s goal, scored the next goal. Victor Rojas added another goal to put the Demons up 3-0 at halftime.
The scoring continued in the second half as Carlos Luna, Estrella and Alan Rojas each scored.
