WICHITA — The Dodge City High School bowling team opened their season at the Biship Carroll Invitational.

“The boys got off to a slow start, but bowled well the rest of the day,” DCHS head coach Tyson Clark said. “We were a little tight the first two games, but then bowled well the rest of the day.
“We just could not string a bunch of strikes together, but finishing sixth is nice start.”
The format was Bakers Team. This is a true team format in that one bowler bowls the first and sixth frames, the second bowler bowls the second and seventh frames, third bowler bowls the third and eighth frames the fourth bowler bowls the fourth and ninth frames and the fifth bowler bowls the fifth and 10th frames. The teams bowled 12 games against six different opponents. The team which won each game received 30 bonus pins. The first 10 games were pool play and teams were seeded, according to pool play totals and bowled two additional games.
Maize won with a total of 3002 pins, and Garden City finished 11th with 2,449 pins.
