DCHS CX team competes at Perryton, Texas

The Dodge City High School boys had a good showing at the Wolf Creek Classic in Perryton, Texas. They will travel to Hays Thursday to compete in the Hays High Invitational.

     The DCHS boys cross-country team had another good showing, finishing first at the Wolf Creek Classic hosted by Perryton, Texas, High School.
     Both the varsity and junior varsity boys placed first in the team standings. The varsity team overcame adversity when some of the runners missed a turn that was not marked on the course with about 800 meters to go.
     Oscar and Luis Carmona were running second and third. When they missed the turn, they battled back to finish seventh and eighth behind older brother Anthony, finishing sixth. They were followed by Elder Colindres at 13th and Jonthan Rendon in 15th, rounding out the team score.
     The team was visibly shook up after the race, so they were relieved to find out the extra distance they ran did not affect their team standing. This adversity will make them stronger.
     It was nice to see the JV runners battle for a varsity spot and go all out. Austin Tiemeyer won the JV race, placing the team in first.
