DODGE CITY —

Dodge City native Tara Goedeken and her nine Team Kansas teammates completed day one of the Fore State Tournament at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla. Monday. Team Kansas sat in second place, 1 1/2 points behind first-place Team Oklahoma at the end of the team portion of the competition.
The tournament is put on by the Women's Golf Associations in each participating state: Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas.  Monday's action saw two-player teams compete in the best-ball format in the morning and alternate shot in the afternoon with a new partner.
Goedeken was paired with Gail Burden of Winfield in the morning, and the duo was beaten by two members of Team Oklahoma after 16 holes. The Dodge amateur was paired with Callie Kemmer in the afternoon, and the Kansans beat two from Team Missouri after 16.
Goedeken and Kemmer were down two holes going into number 7, but won holes 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 to put the match away. Today's points will be earned in singles match play.
Each singles match will be worth six points.
