It was a battle.
And Friday night, Kansas Wesleyan JV came out victorious as they beat the Dodge City Community College Lady Conquistadors, 66-53 in the Dodge House Hotel-Lady Conq Classic.
"We didn't play well in any phase of the game," Conquistador coach Steve High said.
The Lady Conqs, 0-6, were hoping for their first win of the season, but failed to make anything happen Friday night.
"If you shoot 34 percent from the field and 12.5 from 3-point and then really critical, 45 percent from the free throw line, you probably don't deserve to win a basketball game," High said.
As the Lady Conqs headed in to the locker room at half-time, they trailed 22-28, but the score was no reflection of how the first half went.
The lead had changed six times, and the game was tied twice. But even that wasn't a reflection of how the first half went.
Neither team was on their “A” game. There were turnovers, there was little control over the ball, and there was poor shooting.
