Dodge swim team takes fourth place in Great Bend

Dodge City —

    The Dodge/Cimarron Swim Team competed June 7 at Great Bend and finished fourth with 239 points.
    Top point scorers in the morning (swimmers 10 years old and under) were Gabby Mendoza, Issac Bautista and Nicholas Chandler. Bautista and Chandler got second and third, respectively, in the boys 9-10-year-old 50-yard backstroke, and Mendoza placed fourth in the girls 9-10-year-old 50-yard breaststroke.
   In the afternoon, Jenny Delzeit, Kari Keahey, Zhu Zhu Lundin-Daniels, and Ryan Hayes contributed the most points to the team. Each of the girls earned one first-place finish: Lundin-Daniels in the girls 13- and 14-year-old 100-yard backstroke, Delzeit in the girls 11- and 12-year-old 100-yard freestyle, and Keahey in the girls 13- and 14-year-old 200-yard individual medley. Hayes placed among the top six in all of the five events he swam, earning points for each.
    The team will compete again today in Leoti.
