The Dodge/Cimarron swim team competed in Hays on Saturday, July 12, and earned a second-place finish. Due to bad weather before noon, the younger swimmers’ morning session was cancelled and only swimmers 11 and older competed.
The top 10 swimmers were Zhu Zhu Lundin-Daniels (35 points), Sabrina Mendoza (20 points), Fernanda Ibave (17 points), Katie Jones (15 points), Ryan Hayes (14 points), Talia Falcon (13 points), Jennifer Delzeit (11 points), Kody Henrichs (10 points), Jesus Bautista (8 points), and Megan Gerard (4 points). Lundin-Daniels finished first in all five of the events she swam, including the girls 13- and 14-year-old 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:20.38 seconds. Mendoza finished first in the girls 15 and older 200-meter freestyle with a time of 3:02.98.
This weekend, the swim team will be swimming in Garden City for the two-day combined meet. The team will swim against all the teams they have been competing with throughout the season. Swimmers are required to achieve certain times before being allowed to compete in this meet.
