Demons continue WAC season in Liberal

On Monday, the Dodge City High School bowling team hit the lanes in Liberal to take part in their second Western Athletic Conference competition of the season, bowling against Liberal and Holcomb at Ayr Lanes.
     The varsity boys squad would end up going 3-4 on the day and are now 4-10 in the WAC. They were led by Kaden Herbert who compiled a 646 series for three games after throwing an impressive 265 to begin things for the Demons.
     However, the high game belong to Daniel Calvin, who threw a 269 in his first game, on his way to rolling a three game total of 626. The other starters include Tanner Dalton (620 series), Dylan Woods (639 series), Chris Herbert (572 series) and Patrick Bilslend (461 series).
     As for the varsity girls, they ended up going 2-5 during the competition and are 2-12 overall in the WAC. Leading the way for them was senior Chantel Smith, who had a team-high game of 237, as well the team-high for series with a 589 three-game score.
     Next up for the Lady Demons was freshman Amanda Simmons with a series of 526, including an impressive 211 to close out her day. The other starters include Elizabeth Del Real (404 series), Bridgett Schlereth (455 series) and Samantha Reyes (260 series).
     The junior varsity squads for both the boys and the girls fared a little better, with the boys going 4-3 on the day, while the girls had a clean sweep of their opponent, finishing with a 7-0 mark.
     The Demons will next be in action at home on Jan. 24 as they face off with Great Bend in their third WAC meet. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
