DODGE CITY —

The Dodge City Rangers came back in one game and run-ruled their competition in another to capture the championship of the Ranger Invitational Sunday at Demon Field.
Dodge defeated Great Bend 11-8 in their first game Sunday, and then run-ruled Ulysses 10-2 for the championship.
"We're a very good hitting team," Rangers head coach Chris Mills said. "We tell them to take their time and wait for their pitch, and they did that tonight."
Steven Mills got the win for the Rangers in game one after hurling a complete game, but things started rough for Mills and the Dodge defense after falling behind 5-0 after the first inning.
The Rangers rallied back at the plate, however, going through a stretch where they had 10 hits in 11 at-bats.
"Hitting is contagious," Mills said. "Once things get going, other guys just follow behind."
Dodge scored five runs in the second, and then plated five more in the third en route to an 11-8 comeback win.
The Rangers took on Ulysses, who topped Minneola in its first game 7-5, for the championship and Dodge continued to ride its strong hitting from the match against Great Bend.
Pitcher Lorenzo Rincon got the victory for the Rangers as they run-ruled Ulysses 10-2.
Dodge scored two in the first, three in the second, one in the fourth and four more in the fifth to finish the game and grab the invitational title.
Tyson Carpenter and Jeff Castillo led the way for the Rangers with two hits apiece in game two.
Dodge has three doubleheaders at home this week, starting with its first today at 6 p.m.
