MEADE —

The Meade Buffalos scored touchdowns on each of their first five possessions of their season opener in the process of running up a 42 - 0 halftime lead over the Beaver (Oklahoma) Dusters.
Junior Quarterback Dakota Benear started the scoring by capped off a 49 yard Meade drive with a 10 yard touchdown run.  On the next possession the Buffs took advantage of good field position again and marched in for another score.
Meade struck pay dirt quickly on their third possession when Senior Kyle Ross connected with Benear for a 56 yard touchdown pass.  Benear and Beachy continued to find the end zone in the second quarter with touchdown runs of 24 and 13 yards.
As good as the Meade offense was in the first have, the defense was even better, allowing only one Beaver first down before halftime.  Buffalo head coach Scott Moshier had high praise for his defensive unit.
“We controlled the ball like we wanted to," Moshier said. "We gave our offense opportunities to be successful.  It all starts with defense.”
After a scoreless third quarter each team crossed the goal line once in the fourth quarter.  Meade sophomore running back Jaden Friesen scored from 12 yards out.
Late in the game with most of the starters on the sideline Beaver got on the scoreboard when Samuel Becker connected with Tanner McFarland for a touchdown pass.
Beaver head coach Mike McVay said he was not surprised by the talented Buffalos.
“We knew it was going to be tough coming in here because they have so many returning players," McVay said. "I was a little disappointed in our effort early in the ball game and I think they took us out of it in the first eight minutes and we never did respond real well."
“Dakota Benear did a great at quarterback, he threw the ball well and ran the ball well," Moshier said of his team's performance. "Eddie Beachy in his first game at fullback did a real nice job.  Sean Hardaway in his first start at center did a tremendous job for us."
But even with all of the success, Moshier said there is still room for improvement.
“We have a few things we can work on, not getting ourselves to the line of scrimmage fast enough and being offsides, Moshier said. "There going to learn how to run a little bit better and keep their pads down.”
