The Dodge City High School volleyball season is over sooner than they had planned.
After travelling to Haysville Campus on Saturday for Class 6A sub-state tournament play, the Red Demons lost in the first round to Wichita North in three sets.
DCHS lost the first set 25-15, but battled back to win in the second 25-12. After the hard-fought second set, the Demons just didn't have enough to pull out a win in the third set and lost 25-21.
"The girls played hard today," coach Kate Szymzcak said. "But they just came up short."
Szymzcak said that offensively A'zlynn Thompson led the team, while defensively Mallory Ratts stood out. Overall top competitor on the day was Codi Ehrlich.
