SPEARVILLE — The Spearville High School boys’ basketball team showed Tuesday night there’s two main reasons why the Lancers are the top-ranked team in Class 2A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association:
Willie Cauley and Carson Konrade.
The inside-outside offensive arsenal of Cauley and Konrade combined for 34 first-half points during a 53-point scoring explosion, as the Lancers motored past Kinsley 81-35 in a Class 2A sub-state quarterfinal game.
“When you’ve got a future Division-I center and a Division-II, possibly a Division-I guard, on the same floor at the same time together, it’s a nice combination to have,” Spearville head coach Jerrod Stanford said. “It’s one of those things where you can pick your poison.
“Do you want to stop the guy dunking at the rim or the guy shooting 3s like they’re layups?”
