As part of National Consumer Protection week, Attorney General Steve Six will host a student consumer workshop Friday at Dodge City Community College. This is the second year the attorney general has hosted educational workshops targeting high school students.
In an effort to educate young people about consumer threats, the attorney general’s office is hosting two student consumer workshops for Kansas high school students during National Consumer Protection Week. The workshops are free and will educate students about consumer issues before they head out on their own to make important financial decisions.
Each workshop will consist of multiple presentations from public speakers, including the attorney general. The topics will include: "The ABC's of Personal Finance"; "Contracts: a Foreign Language"; "Student Loan Practices"; "Protecting Your Identity"; and other issues affecting today's students.
The free workshops will take place Friday at Dodge City Community College and March 5 at Wichita State University. Each workshop will include complimentary lunch for participants. There will also be a college scholarship drawing for participating high school seniors.
Information on the workshops has been disseminated to all high schools across the state.
