DODGE CITY —

   The Western Athletic Conference boys soccer team has been released. After having the best season in Dodge City soccer history and making it all the way to state, several from Dodge City were named to the team, as well as head coach Virgil Hutchcraft being named coach of the year.

DCMS wrestling has tough weekend

DODGE CITY —

    On Saturday, the Dodge City Middle School Cardinals wrestling team was back in action at the Liberal Dual Tournament. 
    Dodge City finished 1-4 in the team tournament format. Despite what their record showed, the Cardinals wrestled hard against some stiff competition, according to DCMS head coach Justin Coffey.

Demons fall to Derby

DERBY —

    Nothing seemed to go right for the Dodge City High School Red Demons on Friday The 13th.
    As a result, Derby, leading 7-0 at halftime in a Class 6A state playoff game, got a pair of third-quarter field goals from placekicker Mason Young and a 21-yard touchdown run by quarterback Tyler Harrison in the fourth quarter to post a 19-7 victory.

Meade can't stop the unstoppable

SMITH CENTER —

    No matter how hard they tried, the Meade High School Buffaloes couldn’t overcome deja vu to break Smith Center’s  winning streak Friday night.
    Smith Center held off Meade 10-0 in a Class 2A state football playoff game to earn its 78th straight victory, the longest among 11-man teams in the nation.

DCMS beings wrestling season

    On Thursday, the DCMS wrestling team kicked off their season by hosting the Dodge City Wrestling Invitational. 
    Eight teams from South West Kansas participated in the dual-style tournament.  


Demolition Derby

DODGE CITY —

    Advancing to the Class 6A state football playoff version of the Elite Eight is not enough.
    The Dodge City High School Red Demons (8-2) have won four straight and seem hell-bent on advancing to the 6A semifinals and a home date next Friday against unbeaten Manhattan (10-0).
