TOPEKA —

In a basic rehash of similar presentations given to the Dodge City and Ford County Commissions, the two hopeful developers of a casino in Ford County appeared Tuesday morning before the Kansas Lottery Commission in Topeka.
Butler National Service Corp., an Olathe-based development company, gave the first presentation to the Lottery Commission, giving a basic rundown of their two-phase casino and hotel.
Dodge City Resort and Gaming out of Wichita also recapped their proposed casino, with one large change: The company has reworked its hotel façade from a historically accurate building to casino-style decadence.
Potential developers for each gaming zone appeared before the Lottery Commission to present their proposals Monday and Tuesday. The commission has until May 27 to decide which hopeful developers can move ahead with plans for Ford County.
Since both DCRG and Butler National have received endorsements from the Dodge City and Ford County Commissions, the final decision rests with the Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board. The Kansas Supreme Court must also rule on whether the state’s expanded-gambling law is constitutional.
