WICHITA —
Wichita plans to temporarily relocate residents of five homes in a mobile home park after Kansas Gas Service detected methane gas during routine surveys.
Officials think the source of the gas may be a closed landfill immediately north of the Lamplighter mobile home park.
Heavy rainfall has raised the water table and may be helping the landfill gas migrate.
The city wants to dig a trench around the perimeter of the mobile home park and install vents to dissipate the gas.
