Three men were injured Thursday night in a three-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 400, west of the junction with U.S. Highway 56.
Dodge City resident Christopher G. Reeves was attempting to turn left out of a parking lot onto U.S. 400 when his 2001 GMC truck was struck by Liberal resident Humberto Ortiz, who was heading east, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported. Ortiz's semitractor went left of the center line and struck a westbound semitruck driven by Scott M. Hancock of Cashion, Okla.
Ortiz and Hancock were both wearing seat belts when the wreck occurred, but it was unclear whether Reeves was wearing one.
Reeves, 24, Ortiz, 37, and Hancock, 36, were all taken to Western Plains Medical Complex for treatment.
A hospital spokesman said Friday he could not release any information about the victims' condition.
