SHS Baseball: Drops two close games to Cimarron

The Spearville Lancers just seem to be unable to catch up to Cimarron on Thursday night. In the first game the Lancers had a 4-run deficit in the third inning. The Lancers almost came all the way back, eventually falling 6-5 to Cimarron. The Lancers scored one run on an error in the fifth inning. The Lancers got things started in the first inning. Danny Alcala drove in one when Alcala singled. The Lancers put up three runs in the third inning. Josh Cox and Jarrett Kliesen all contributed in the big inning with RBIs. Logan Hubbell took the loss for the Lancers. The hurler allowed three hits and six runs over two innings, striking out three.

DCHS Softball: Beats Great Bend

The Lady Demons improve to 5-1 on the year after beating Great Bend in two games tonight. In the first game the Lady Demons defeated Great Bend 8-7 on Thursday. The game was tied at six with the Lady Demons batting in the top of the seventh when Brittany Lomas singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs. Great Bend scored four runs in the fifth inning, but the Lady Demons still managed to pull out the victory. The Lady Demons got things started in the first inning when Tatum Steiner drew a walk, scoring one run. In the top of the sixth inning, the Lady Demons Varsity tied things up at six scored one run when Steiner singled. The Lady Demons put up three runs in the fourth inning as batters contributing to the big inning included Easha Potts and Marisela Landa, who each had RBIs in the inning. Macy Musslin was credited with the victory for the Lady Demons. The righthander surrendered seven runs on nine hits over seven innings, striking out four and walking one.

DCHS Baseball: Drops two game against Hays

The Red Demons Baseball team fell to Hays tonight in two games. In the first game the Red Demons fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-2 loss to Hays on Thursday. Hays scored on a double and a sacrifice fly in the second inning. The Red Demons struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Hays, giving up eight runs. Hays opened up scoring in the second inning. Hays scored one run when Cadoret doubled. Hays scored four runs in the sixth inning.
