Greensburg is adding another endeavor to its growing community: a farmers market.
The Kiowa County Extension Service, in cooperation with the Community Garden Committee and the city of Greensburg, has decided to start a farmers market. The market will be in Davis Park and will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. every Saturday.
The market will start Saturday and continue through the summer.
Several rules apply to farmers markets, and that information can be found in the K-State publication "Starting a Seasonal Open-Air Market." The publication can be found online or at your local county Extension office. The farmers market in Greensburg will follow the guidelines listed in the publication.
Some of the products that will be welcome at the market include:
    • Fresh fruits and vegetables.
    • Baked goods (except cream-filled goods or cheesecakes).
    • Breads.
    • Honey.
    • Fruit pies not requiring refrigeration.
    • Cookies.
    • Dried fruits.
Vendors within a 50-mile radius are invited to participate in the farmers market. If you would like to be part of it, call the Extension office at (620) 723-2156 to reserve your space.
