Dodge City Community College sophomore softball player Ashley Podschun was named a second-team NJCAA Division II All-American utility/designated player for the 2008 season.
    Podschun also was named first team NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) South Region All-American utility/DP, first-team All-Conference Western Division utility/DP and first team All-Region VI utility/DP.
    Podschun led the Conqs in every offensive category this past season and established herself as one of the best offensive players in school history. Her numbers for the 2008 season:
    • .567 batting average (tops in school history).
    • 48 runs scored (tied for third best in a single season).
    • 80 hits (second highest for a single season).
    • 12 home runs (second highest for a single season)
    • 15 doubles (tied for second best in a single season).
    • 52 runs batted in (fourth highest in a single season).
    • .901 slugging percentage (best in school history).
    Podschun is also in the top five in the DCCC softball career record book in doubles, hits, home runs, runs scored and runs batted in.
    “Ashley is one of the most prolific offensive players we have ever had here at Dodge City Community College, and we are extremely proud of her and her accomplishments," said coach Howie Smith.
    Podschun has signed a softball scholarship with Washburn University and will be continuing her softball career and education this fall, majoring in athletic training.
