    She was born October 13, 1955, to John W. and Aielene (Bayless) Dansel at Dodge City.
    She was a rural Bucklin resident since 1999 formerly of Ava, Missouri.  On July 24, 1999, she married Carl Birney at the Round Barn near Mullinville, Ks. He survives.
    She was a farm wife and a Licensed Beautician.  She  had also worked for the Ford County Feed Yard, Bucklin CO-OP and Bucklin Clinic.
    She was an avid barrel racer and horse trainer.  She was a member of the KSNBHA (Kansas National Barrel Horse Association).  She was a member of the Bucklin Presbyterian Church and was the church treasurer.
    Survivors include a son, Delwin Dougherty of Kansas City, Mo.; stepson, Travis Birney of Alexandria, VA.; 2 stepdaughters, Carla Jo Smith of Hutchinson, Ks., and Jana Jo Zachman of Colorado Springs, CO.; mother, Aielene Dansel of Dodge City, Ks.; a brother, J.E. Dansel of Jetmore, Ks.; and a sister, Ramona Klein of Dodge City, Ks.
    The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at the Legion Building, Bucklin, with Rev. Orlando Jantz presiding. Burial will be in the Bucklin Cemetery, Bucklin.
    Friends may call from Noon to 5 p.m. Monday, May 25, at the Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin.
