 Anthony “Tony”  August Heiland, 75, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011.
    He was born at home on the farm in Windthorst, the fifth child of Theresia and Fred Heiland. Tony was raised in the home of his grandparents, Monika and Bernard Tieben, after his mother’s death when he was two and a half weeks old.        He graduated from Windthorst schools and continued his higher education at St. Mary of the Plains College, Dodge City, and Wichita State University. He taught and coached at the School of the Magdalen for seven years and met the love of his life.
    He married Mary Jo Edwards at the Church of the Magdalen, Wichita, Kansas, on Feb. 5, 1966. He then worked in the computer department at the Cudahy Meat Packing Co. Next he became manager of the data processing center of Henry’s Clothing Store in Wichita and the Woolf Brothers clothing chain.
    He is survived by his children, Michael (Audrey), Jolene, Peter and Paul, all of Wichita; grandchildren, Zachery, Nicholas, Tate and Brianna; brothers, Wilfred (Bill) of Fraktown, Colo., Jerry (Rita) of Dodge City, Fred (Sue) of Spearville, Bernard Heiland of Dodge City; sisters, Monica (Pete) Carmichael of Dodge City, Mary (Fred) Martinez of Topeka and Judy (Bob) Konrade of Offerle.
    He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo; infant son, Francis; his parents, Fred and Theresia; stepmother, Ivra; brothers Norbert and Ves; sister Emogene Stevens.
    Rosary 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21; services 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, both at St. Jude Catholic Church, 3130 N. Amidon, Wichita.
    Memorials may be designated to The Lord’s Diner and Guadalupe Clinic. Baker Funeral Home  - Valley Center.
