Lawyers representing the people behind a media hoax targeting Koch (kohk) Industries have filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit by the Wichita-based company seeking the pranksters' identities.

The Washington, D.C.-based Public Citizen Litigation Group filed documents Wednesday in federal court in Utah seeking to quash subpoenas obtained by Koch Industries. It also wants the judge to issue a protective order.

The nonprofit advocacy group contends it represents the anonymous members of Youth for Climate Truth.

Last month, a bogus website and fake news release claimed Koch Industries was changing its financial commitments on climate change to environmentally friendly groups.

Public Citizen contends in its filing that the First Amendment protects anonymous speech.
