The Dodge City Conquistadors still had their seedings for this weekend's regional tournament up in the air, but their final home game at United Wireless Arena against the Butler Grizzlies could have been a momentum maker.

However, the Conqs couldn't make an eight-point run in the second half stick as the Grizzlies scored eight of the last 10 points in the last 3:25 of regulation in a 56-53 setback in the final Jayhawk West contest of the season.

Vic Adams scored 17 points, but missed a 35-foot jumper that would have sent the game into overtime. Delvon Rencher added 14 points and Aaron Tate had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Conqs had 23 points in double digits.

Shomari Triggs and Larry Fitzgerald scored 11 points apiece to lead the Grizzlies, while Sean Goodwin added 10 in the victory. Fitzgerald also had nine boards.

The two squads kept exchanging the lead throughout most of the contest with Dodge City leading Butler 25-22 at intermission. The Conqs (14-16, 6-10) scored 14 points off of turnovers in the first half. Adams scored eight points and Tate added seven to lead Dodge City, while Triggs scored five points to lead Butler (23-7, 11-5).

The Grizzlies pushed ahead early in the second half and kept the margin within two possessions before a late run put Butler on top 45-38. Dodge City then went on its run to lead 51-48. Adams and Rencher scored nine points apiece in the overtime.

Dodge City will travel Saturday to Independence or Labette. A coin flip with Cloud County will determine the seedings and road trip.
