Both teams 3-1-1 in WAC standings

GARDEN CITY -- The Dodge City Lady Demons recorded a 1-1 decision with the Garden City Lady Buffaloes in a Western Athletic Conference battle.

Cynthia Rodela scored the only goal for Dodge City in the 25th minute off a pass from Scarlett Real after Megan Martinez scored in the ninth minute for Garden City.

Demons soccer coach Charles Johnson said the Demons felt disappointed that the Lady Buffaloes were able to maintain control of the game. Garden City outshot Dodge City 12-11.

"We went in to Garden believing we were the superior team. We are very disapointed in tying at Garden and know that we must redeem ourselves when they visit here," Johnson said. "We had some very unlucky shots that hit the post and just went wide, but that being said, we know we have to finish."

Andrea Estrada recorded 11 saves to help the Lady Demons (5-7-1, 3-1-1).

"Andrea made four very critical saves and definitely responded when we needed her to," Johnson said.

Garden City is now 5-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the league.

The Lady Demons' next game is a road league game on May 2 at Hays.
