The YMCA of Southwest Kansas recently named Jackie Regan executive director of the Dodge City Family YMCA. Prior to this position, Regan was the chief operations officer for YMCA of Southwest Kansas.

The YMCA of Southwest Kansas also named Sarah Waller integrated marketing and communications director of the association. Her position will cover both the Dodge City and Garden City branches.

According to YMCA of Southwest Kansas CEO Chad Knight, Regan’s extensive experience within the organization and her drive for success were among the deciding factors for the hiring decision.

"We always try to promote from within," Knight said. "Jackie has done an awesome job for us at our Garden City branch and we’re excited to see the changes and improvements that will take place under her leadership."

Regan was hired as the interim branch director in April of this year and accepted her promotion during the branch’s May board meeting. She began her duties as the branch executive director immediately.

A 2001 graduate of Andale High School, Regan played collegiate basketball for Highland Community College and later for Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, Okla.  She graduated from NWOSU with a degree in wellness promotions, and accepted her first job in the youth sports department of the YMCA of Greater Wichita. Regan relocated to Southwest Kansas in 2006 after accepting the sports director position at the Garden City Family YMCA.  Five years later, she was promoted to senior program director and then chief operations officer for the YMCA of Southwest Kansas.

"I am so excited to work more hands-on with the Dodge City staff and expand our mission and services in the area," Regan said in a press release. "I’ve been so grateful for the warm welcome I’ve received from our members and from this community.

"It already feels like home."

"We are very excited to have Sarah on our team," Knight said. "With her vast knowledge and experience we believe she’ll make a huge impact on our association. This is a position that is very vital to our success and I’m glad we have Sarah in charge of it."

Waller was hired in June and began her duties on July 17.

A native of Great Bend, Waller went on to study public relations and leadership at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan.  She graduated from FHSU in 2007 with a degree in Communication, and moved to the Southwest Kansas area shortly after. She has worked in advertising and marketing roles for the past 10 years, including contracted marketing services for the Southwest Kansas YMCA.

"I am excited to be a part of the Y family," Waller said in a press release. "I see a lot of potential for improved communication with our members and with the community.

"This is a very active organization with a strong Christian mission and I look forward to helping telling our story."
