It is that time of the year when positions for boards and commissions for the city are needing filled.

The vacancies could be due to the current member no longer wishing to return or their term limit has expired.

"The boards and commissions serve to make city government reflective of the attitudes and beliefs of its residents," public information officer Abbey Martin said in a press release. "If more applications are received than there are available positions, the applications will be kept on file in the event an opening occurs during the year.

"Appointments will be made at the Feb. 5 city commission meeting."

Applications will be accepted from now until Tuesday, Jan. 30 at noon.

The following boards and commission positions needing filled are: Airport Advisory Board; Building Board of Appeals; Convention and Visitors Bureau (one representing hospitality and one at-large); Cultural Relations Advisory Board; Dodge City Planning Commission; Golf Advisory Board; Historic Landmark Commission; Housing Authority Board; Library Board; Parks and Recreation Advisory Board; Recycling Advisory Board; Santa Fe Trails Community Corrections Advisory Board; and Shade Tree Commission.

Applications can be picked up in person or online by visiting or stopping in to City Hall at 806 N. 2nd Ave.
