On May 1, the Clark County Sheriff's Office, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Ford County Sheriff's Office and Dodge City Police Department, were involved in a targeted investigation of drug trafficking in rural towns in both Clark and Ford Counties.

Matthew Gray, from Ashland, was arrested on a warrant issued out of Ford County for distribution of methamphetamine.

He was transported to the Ford County Jail to await court on those charges.

Further investigation led to a search warrant being issued in a residence located at 615 Willow Street in Ashland. While conducting the search warrant, officers placed Jaime Ortiz into custody on suspicion of aggravated endangering a child, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Four minor children were removed from the home at the time of the search warrant. The children have been temporarily placed with family pending further court proceedings.

As a reminder that subjects arrested on the charge listed above are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
