It will be a night of remembrance and celebration as the first Hope Glow event will be held at the Dodge City Community College Student Activity Center on Friday.

The evening will be filled with guest speakers as well as cancer screenings, a balloon release and Glow walk.

The activities start at 5:30 p.m. with a hamburger feed and live entertainment.

From 6 to 8 p.m. there will be a silent auction and the start of the cancer screenings.

From 7 to 7:30 p.m. will be a celebration of cancer survivors with an honorary reception and special introductions.

At 7:30 p.m. will be the Messages to Heaven Balloon release with an inspirational speaker starting at 7:45 p.m.

The Luminaria Glow Walk will begin at 8 p.m.

"Hope Glow is a night to celebrate cancer survivors and remember those who lost the battle and bring hope to the future," said organizer Marcy Taylor.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the American Cancer Society to assist with research and support programs.
