Elena Carlos is attending Kansas State University after completing two years at Dodge City Community College and receiving her Associates of Science Degree with high honors.
She is working on getting her Bachelor's in Medical Biochemistry at K-State and then plans to pursue her dream of becoming a Pediatrician.
The Auxiliary is pleased to have helped Carlos with her previous years of education at DCCC and will continue to support her.
Hortencia Robles is enrolled in her first year of Nursing at DCCC and plans to become a Registered Nurse and then obtain her Bachelor of Nursing Degree also.
She was highly recommended for this scholarship. The Auxiliary is pleased to be able to help these recipients.
One of the main missions of the Auxiliary is to provide scholarships to students of southwest Kansas who have been accepted into an Accredited Health Care Field.
The money for scholarships is obtained through the gift shop sales, generous donations of the auxiliary and community members and fundraisers.
Applications for scholarships are available at Human Resources and the gift shop. Applications will be accepted again starting January 2019 for the year of 2019-2020 and must be received by June 1 of 2019.
The Auxiliary serves in various ways at the hospital. You will find them in the ICU waiting room, cath Lab, gift shop and delivering patient mail and providing magazines to patients and waiting rooms.
Volunteers keep the lines of communication open between doctors, nurses and families.
Recently the auxiliary changed from their previous pink smocks to royal blue jackets in hopes of attracting male volunteers.
At present the auxiliary is pleased to have one male volunteer.
Volunteers are needed and if you have some spare time and want to do something very gratifying, please consider joining the Hospital Auxiliary.
Anyone interested may contact any auxiliary member or call WP Human Resources at 620-225-8484 or 620-225-8400.
