Dodge City Church of the Nazarene is excited to serve as one of more than 500 churches around the world that will host Night to Shine, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, simultaneously on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019.
Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs, ages 14 and older. This worldwide movement is already set to take place in all 50 states and 16 countries around the world and the numbers continue to grow.
Last year, over 130 honored guests experienced a prom night they will never forget.
Every guest of Night to Shine enters this complimentary event on a red carpet complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi.
Once inside, guests receive the royal treatment, including hair and makeup stations, shoe shining areas, limousine rides, corsages and boutonnieres, a catered dinner, karaoke, photo booths, prom favors for each honored guest, a Respite Room for parents and caretakers, and, of course, a dance floor, all leading up to the moment when each guest is crowned king or queen of the prom.
"For some of our guests, Night to Shine is the best night of the year," said Mollea Wainscott, special projects coordinator for the Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation. "We are blessed to have the support of the community.
"This event requires 200 volunteers along with significant donations from local businesses and individuals.
"This will be the fourth year that the Dodge City Church of the Nazarene will host the event."
There are various volunteer roles that need to be met, with the largest being "buddies."
A buddy will accompany and assist assigned guest throughout the evening, providing companionship and any assistance they may need. The buddy will enjoy dinner, dancing and other activities while engaging with the assigned guest.
Another volunteer role is food service, which serves the catered dinner to the guests and buddies. All volunteers must be 16 years old and pass a background check.
Volunteer forms can be downloaded from our webpage at www.DodgeCityNightToShine.com or filled out at the Dodge City Church of the Nazarene, 1700 W. Ross Boulevard between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
