In the lead up to Valentine's Day, Dillons in Dodge City is bringing back its Heart to Heart Program.

According to floral manager Diane Jacobs, the goal is to get a single rose to every resident in the nursing homes in the community.

"We are looking to raise $4 per rose," Jacobs said. "We have our cashiers asking customers as they purchase their groceries but everyone is welcome to come in and make a monetary donation."

The program began several years ago as a way to give back to the community. This year's program began on Friday and will run up to Feb. 13 when the roses will be delivered to the residents.

"Dillons does a lot for the nursing homes in Dodge City and we want to be able to reach homes outside of the community," Jacobs said. "We have donated floral arrangements and many items in town. We have some businesses in town that have began making donations for the Heart to Heart program already so we are very grateful for what has taken place from citizens already."

To make a donation to the Heart to Heart program, visit Dillons at 1700 N. 14th Avenue in Dodge City.
