Additional funding was awarded to the Mueller-Schmidt House Museum — Home of Stone, with a $15,000 grant from the Scroggins Foundation.

The Ford County Historical Society accepted the grant to go towards renovations and repairs of the Home of Stone on its front porch roof and balcony on the south side of the home.

According to the historical society, the Home of Stone was built between 1879-1881, and the historic house was called home by only two families.

Present inside the home today is many pieces of original furniture.

Information released by the historical society states that visitors from 47 states and 12 countries, visited the Home of Stone in 2018.

Tours of the Home of Stone are available for free from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
