Chocolate, auctions, fundraising, all will be available during the annual Chocolate Dreams event by Court Appointed Special Advocates for children services as they host their annual Chocolate Dreams fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Boot Hill Casino and Resort Conference Center.

The fundraiser will open its doors at 6:30 p.m. with the live auction starting at 8:15 p.m.

All of the proceeds for the event go towards the CASA program, a volunteer-based service for abused and neglected children that are court appointed to assist with the needs and services of those children.

CASA will also be naming its Volunteer of the Year.

This rear's recipient will be Tawn Hawes.

There will be a live and silent auction as well as the cupcake raffle  with the prize being a pendant from K. Martin Jewelers.

Some of the items up for auction this year will be an autographed University Kansas 2018-19 men's basketball team basketball; a print of a painting by western artist Kenneth Wyatt; a gourmet dinner by Don Steele; alfalfa bales; sterling silver KC strip loins; a grill by DC Appliance; chocolate cheesecake with Cupcake pinot noir wine; barbecue sauce kits; Red Beard Coffee gift cards; Dodge City Brewing shot glass and drink glass set; gift baskets for family game night; gift cards to Pizza Hut and Papa Murphy's; a Village Square Mall shopping trip basket along with many, many more items.

"This year's theme is 'Cowboy Up,'" CASA Dodge City executive director Kristin Hines said. "We will have a photo booth this year as well as a Wanted Poster for having fun and the auction bid numbers are cowboy hats."

Being a non-profit, CASA has a small budget made up of mostly grant funds with a good portion of the remaining funds needed for fuel for travel coming strictly from the fundraiser.

CASA volunteers must complete close to 37 hours of training and screening before being placed with children in the court system. They remain one-on-one with the children and remain with them in the program until either the court decides it is no longer a necessity or the child reaches the age of 18.

One change for this year's Chocolate Dreams will be the need for tickets to be purchased in advance. No tickets will be available at the door.

Tickets can be purchased at CASA, 2008 1st Avenue, Suite 806 or call 620-225-1278. Tickets are $25.
