Pianist Frederic Chiu will perform the first concert of 2019 for the Dodge City Community Concert Association this Wednesday.

The show will be at 7 p.m. at the Dodge City Civic Center.

According to his bio, Chiu brings a diverse set to his piano performance. He blends from his Asian, American and European background, musical training, and an early and ongoing exploration of artificial intelligence and human psychology, especially the

body-mind-heart connection.

Over the years Chiu has built a repertoire from the works of Prokofiev,Chopin, Liszt and others, along with putting out more than 25 CDs in the market place.

Chiu recently recorded Beethoven/Liszt Symphony V, Carnival of the Animals, David Gonzalez, and Hymns and Dervishes with music by Gurdjieff/de Hortmann.

Some of the composers Chiu has worked with in the past include George Crumb, Frederick Rzewsky, Bright Sheng, Gao Ping and David Benoit and more recently premiered the Edgar Meyer's Concert Piece with Joshua Bell.

Tickets for the single event will be $20 for an individual, $45 for family and $5 for students.

Due to construction, the Civic Center parking is limited on the north side of the building. Entry to the building will be at the front doors and the south doors.
