Skyland Grain LLC and Pratt Community College are partnering to host an educational session highlighting their Crop Application Program at the upcoming 3i SHOW High School Ag Career Day.

High School Ag Career Day offers students an opportunity to learn about careers in agriculture and will be held on Thursday, March 21, with sessions beginning at 9 a.m.

Students Interested in joining a growing career field need to attend this session.

Crop Applicator careers are projected to grow six percent in the next 10 years with starting salaries ranging between $44,000 and $55,000. This session will give students an idea of what it takes to be a crop applicator with the only sprayer simulator west of the Missouri River.

Students will have the opportunity to drive through traffic, navigate fields, and spray crops in a variety of realistic scenarios while sitting on a hydraulic seat with controls that look and operate like a real sprayer.

Pratt Community College offers a one-year Crop Application certificate program through their partnership with Skyland Grain to best prepare students for a lifelong career. Representatives from Skyland Grain will be in attendance to answer any questions about future employment opportunities.

Students will learn about Pratt Community College’s Ag Power Technology program. While learning the ins and outs of crop application, take into consideration the agriculture machinery it takes to run your farm and ranch operation.

The Agricultural Power Technology Program offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree that prepares students for a career as an agricultural technician.

With this degree, the graduate has the option of continuing their education to earn a Bachelor's degree, or go directly into the workforce.

APT is supported by major corporations such as John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Caterpillar and AGCO, with 86 dealerships statewide providing paid internship options for students.
