The 9th annual Boots & Beer benefit auction will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Boot Hill Casino & Resort Conference Center, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $60 per person or $450 for a table of eight. Guests must be at least 21 years old to attend.

The benefit, hosted by Boot Hill Museum, will go toward the current expansion of the museum, with construction underway for a new building that will see nine new exhibits created.

"This year’s auction event will be different from the past," said museum donor relations director Laura Tawater. "The staff at Boot Hill Museum wanted to add a unique activity to the auction and will be featuring their first-ever 'Chef Shootout Cooking Contest.' "

The cooking contest will see Prime on the Nine chef Ryan Emery; Firesides chef Jeremy Mercado and United Wireless Arena and Boot Hill Casino & Resort Conference Center chef Steve Southern competing.

The chefs will draw ingredients out of a hat and make a dessert, entrée and appetizer.

There will be a "Boot Hill Best" and "People's Choice" award given out by a panel of judges.

"Guests will be able to sample all of the contest foods and vote on their favorite dish using a sarsaparilla cap," Tawater said. "Ticket holders will also be able to try a variety of craft beers with their gourmet food as well."

Dodge City Brewing, which is the auction’s main sponsor, will serve its popular 1872 lager beer.

Boot Hill Distillery will also have a table during the auction and give away samples of its specialty cocktails.

"I’m just amazed and so grateful for all of the individuals and businesses who have come together to help us with this auction," Tawater said.

Lewis Automotive Group, Centera Bank, and Rocking M Media in Dodge City are also sponsors of the auction.

"The proceeds from this auction will help tremendously with our capital campaign for the exhibits building, and I think people in town are so excited for this new addition," Tawater said. "Ticket sales have been high and they are almost sold out for the event, even with the added space at the conference center.

"We are encouraging people to get their tickets quickly if they want to attend this year."

Tickets for the Boots & Beer benefit auction can be purchased online at or at the museum gift shop or by calling 620-227-8188.
