MEADE — Artesian Valley Health System announced the addition of James Green to its team of full-time providers.

Green is a board certified family nurse practitioner with a master’s degree in nursing from Walden University.

Growing up in Columbus, Kan., a small rural town in southeast Kansas, Green's mother was a nurse and it was her influence that led him into the medical field.

Having worked in rural and metropolitan locations, it was the small town rural setting that attracted Green to AVHS.

"I’ve been working at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City," Green said. "I’m from a small town and I’m really looking forward to getting out of the city and back to a rural community.

"In a small community like Meade, patients get a more personable experience with their provider, and I get to know my patients better than I can in the city."

Green enjoys spending time with his family, which consists of 15 nieces and nephews, five of whom live near Ashland with his brother and sister-in-law. He also enjoys hunting and fishing.

Green has worked in Med-Surg, ICU and emergency care over the last six years and completed his Nurse Practitioner license earlier this year.

He worked in primary care with all ages, from infants to toddlers, adolescents, teenagers, adults and geriatrics, while obtaining his license.

"What I love most about my job is getting to know people and keeping them healthy so they can continue working and enjoying the things they love," he said.

Green will see patients at all AVHS facilities and provide primary care at the Meade and Plains clinics; emergency and inpatient care at Meade District Hospital; and visit residents at Lone Tree Retirement Center.

"If I could tell people just one thing to help them with their health, it would be to be aware of their health, be conscious of any changes and communicate that with your provider," Green said. "Addressing any health changes early can make a big difference in the outcome."

Green will tentatively begin seeing patients Aug. 1 as AVHS finalizes all insurance credentialing.

To schedule an appointment with Green, call the Meade clinic at 620-873-2112.
