The Dodge City Community College has named Abbi Shaddix its new Head Women’s Golf Coach.

A standout golfer from Garden City, Shaddix was previously an assistant golf professional at Whirlwind Golf Club in Phoenix, the first-time head coach taught lessons, as well as instructional clinics and several tournaments before coming to Dodge City.

During her high school career, Shaddix was a three-time 6A Regional Champion, Kansas State Runner-Up in 2013, and tied the state high school record, shooting a 66 while playing at Garden City High School.

From there she went on to the University of North Texas, where she finished seventh at the Conference USA Championships during her freshman season.

Shaddix then transferred to Wichita State University for her final three years, where she was also an intern, assisted with recruiting, practice, travel coordination and team apparel her senior year.

"I am ecstatic to get back to my roots in southwest Kansas and be a part of the Conquistador golf program," said Shaddix in a news release. "Growing up and playing collegiate golf in Kansas, I am more than happy to take on this position.

"There are many people I want to thank for making this possible. I would like to thank Coach Chris Robinson, Athletic Director Jacob Ripple, and President Dr. Harold Nolte for the opportunity.

"I can’t wait to develop future Conquistadors on and off the course."
