Airport Fun Day to feature skydivers

OTTAWA — Adults and children alike will have the chance to reach for the skies Saturday.

The Ottawa Airport Fun Day is slated to begin 7 a.m. Saturday at the airport, 2178 Montana Road, Ottawa. The day will start with a 5K by the Ottawa Running Club and Franklin County, KS Cycling followed by a breakfast by the American Legion from 8 to 10:30 a.m.

Attractions running from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. include free plane rides for kids ages 8 to 17, free giveaways, flybys by local planes, a silent auction and raffle, face painting by The Blue Giraffe, an imagination station and other kid activities, police and fire vehicles on display, and shaved ice by Premier Ice.

At 10:30 a.m., skydivers are set to dive with the American fag while the national anthem plays. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., a $2 hot dog, pop and chips by the Aviation Explorers will be provided.
