Fourteen new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed overnight in Ford County, bringing the total to 32 in-county cases.


"The Ford County Health Department received a notice of 14 new cases of COVID-19 between last night and this morning," Ford County administrator J.D. Gilbert said on Wednesday. "At this time, the Health Department team is already working on identifying potential contacts and any correlations between cases, if any."


As to the cause of the sudden surge in confirmed cases, it is still under investigation by county staff.


As of Wednesday, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment daily report of COVID-19 puts the state total at 1,494 cases, with 76 deaths and 13,174 negative tests.


In Ford County there have been 122 COVID-19 tests conducted as of Wednesday.
