The Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV) is reaching out and reminding domestic and sexual violence victims there are safe programs and other advocacy services, including shelters, available in cities and communities across Kansas.

People affected by domestic and sexual violence can reach a victim advocate at any time by calling the toll-free Kansas Crisis Hotline at 888-363-2287, where anything said will remain confidential.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, survivors and victims are facing more challenges, as many are trapped with their abusers and being tormented by belittlement, isolation and other abuse both physical and non-physical. For victims still enduring, staying home can prove dangerous and further isolating.

Abusers can easily restrict the access of victims and provide false information regarding the various situations victims are entrapped in.

Victims of rape, that are worried about showing COVID-19 symptoms, could be afraid of going to a hospital for a forensic exam.

KCSDV encourages everyone, especially victims and survivors, to reach and out stay connected to people they share mutual respect with and trust.

“Staying at home doesn’t mean staying in an unsafe home or being (alone) with your fears,” said KCSDV executive director Joyce Grover. “There is help open and available, just a phone call away.”
