Unlike other games this season, the Dodge City Red Demons boys soccer team allowed a goal in Tuesday’s game against Liberal.
Much like other games this season, the Red Demons kept their mistakes from affecting them in the win column.
The Red Demons beat the Liberal Redskins 2-1 Tuesday night. The Redskins scored first in the second half, taking a 1-0 lead, but a goal by sophomore Alan Lopez and another by senior Josue Castillo allowed the Red Demons to secure the victory.
It was the first goal the Red Demons have allowed this season, and also the first time they have trailed in a game. This season the Red Demons have outscored opponents 23-1.
The win came after the team recently completed its third straight victory in the Titan Classic. The Red Demons won the Blue Bracket of the tournament with a 1-0, double-overtime win over Bishop Carroll Saturday. Lopez had the lone goal in that game with an assist by junior Diego Olivares.
Tuesday’s win moved the Red Demons to (6-0) overall and (1-0) in Western Athletic Conference play. They’ll go for conference win number two when they take on the Hays Indians Thursday in Hays. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
