The Dodge City High School girls tennis team finished second in their home invitational Tuesday, finishing only behind Garden City and only due to a tie-breaker.
Senior Mariana Duque finished first in the No. 1 singles, going 4-0.
She wasn’t the only Red Demon to fare well at the event.
Victoria Garcia finished first in the No. 2 singles, going 4-1.
In the No. 1 doubles, Jordyn Trombley and Jewel Escobar finished second, going 3-1. In the No. 2 doubles, Stephanie Barrientos and Sydney Seeders finished fourth, going 2-3.
The Cimarron Bluejays also competed in the invitational. Senior Katharine Moffitt finished 2-3 in No. 1 singles and finished in third place. In the No. 2 singles Cassidy Schmidt finished 0-4. In the No. 1 doubles, juniors Jordan Toothaker and Samantha Woods finished 0-4, and in the No. 2 doubles, seniors Daniela Beltran and Jaeden Werth finished 1-3.
