Multiple area volleyball teams were in action this week, including the entire Southern Plains - Iroquois Activities Association league.
Here are how all the teams did, starting with Ford County teams Bucklin and Spearville, then in alphabetical order.
The Bucklin Red Aces attended the Pawnee Heights triangular that included the Red Aces, the Pawnee Heights Tigers and the Ingalls Bulldogs.
Bucklin went 1-1 in the tri. The Red Aces overcame the Bulldogs by scores of 25-18, 25-22 but lost to the Tigers 14-25 and 21-25.
Bucklin is now 5-5, and 3-3 against SPIAA opponents.
Spearville hosted a home quad that included Hodgeman County, South Gray and LaCrosse.
The Lancers left it with an unbeaten record just as they had entered it. They beat Hodgeman County 25-7, 25-13; LaCrosse 25-18, 25-15; and South Gray 25-19, 25-22.
The Lancers are now 9-0 this season, and 4-0 against SPIAA foes.
According to the Week 2 Kansas Volleyball Association Rankings, the Lancers jumped up to No. 5 in Division 1A. They're one of two SPIAA teams in the rankings. See South Central for the other (listed below).
The Ashland Bluejays competed in a triangular at Fowler. The Bluejays beat Fowler in two games, and also beat Satanta by scores of 25-18, 25-12.
Ashland is now 4-4 and 3-2 in SPIAA play.
They head to South Gray Sept. 18 to play a quad involving South Gray, Bucklin, and Hodgeman County.
In their home triangular Sept. 11, the Fowler Goldbugs lost in two games to Ashland, and also lost to Satanta by scores of 23-25, 24-26.
The Goldbugs are 2-8 overall, and 0-8 in SPIAA play.
They head to Satanta Tuesday, Sept. 18, to take part in a quad also involving Kiowa County, Ingalls and Satanta.
The Hodgeman County Longhorns lost all three matches at Spearville Tuesday. They lost in two sets to South Gray. They also lost to LaCrosse 19-25, 22-25, and lost to Spearville 7-25, 13-25.
The Longhorns are 2-13 overall and 1-7 in SPIAA play. They head to South Gray Sept. 18 to play in the quad with South Gray, Bucklin and Ashland.
The Ingalls Bulldogs attended the Pawnee Heights triangular that included the Red Aces, the Pawnee Heights Tigers and the Bucklin Red Aces. The Bulldogs lost to the Red Aces 18-25, 22-25. They also lost to the Tigers 20-25, 20-25.
The Bulldogs also played against Cimarron Sept. 13 in a makeup game for the teams' Aug. 30 matchup which was suspended due to a power outage. The Bulldogs lost in three sets to Cimarron by scores of 25-23, 24-26, 21-25.
The Bulldogs are now 1-12 overall and 0-10 in SPIAA play.
They are next in action Sept. 18 when they head to Satanta for a quad involving the Satanta Indians, Ingalls Bulldogs, Fowler Goldbugs and the Kiowa County Mavericks.
The Kiowa County Mavericks competed in a quad at Kinsley Sept. 11, going 1-2 in the quad. They lost to Kinsley 25-27, 25-16, 20-25, and also lost to Meade 19-25, 17-25. They did, however, beat Minneola 25-19, 25-22.
The Mavericks are 8-6 overall and 3-2 against SPIAA opponents.
Kiowa County heads to Satanta Sept. 18 to play in the quad with the Satanta Indians, Ingalls Bulldogs and Fowler Goldbugs.
The Minneola Wildcats played in the Kinsley quad Sept. 11, falling to Kiowa County by scores 19-25, 22-25, and to Kinsley by scores 25-21, 15-25, 20-25. Meade was also listed as an opponent that night, according to the Kansas State High School Activities Association website, but scores for a possible match against Meade had not been posted as of Friday night.
Overall, the Wildcats were 8-5 overall, with an extra either win or loss possible if the team played Meade in the quad, and 6-4 against SPIAA schools.
The Wildcats host a quad Sept. 18 that is scheduled to include Spearville, Pawnee Heights and South Central.
The Pawnee Heights Tigers, who hosted a triangular Tuesday, beat Bucklin by scores 25-14, 25-21. They also beat Ingalls, by scores 25-20, 25-20.
The Tigers are 11-2 overall and 8-0 in SPIAA play. They host a home tournament Saturday, Sept. 15. Among teams scheduled to compete are the Ashland Bluejays.
The Satanta Indians played Fowler in a triangular Sept. 11, going 1-1. The Indians lost to the Ashland Bluejays by scores 18-25, 12-25. They beat the Goldbugs by scores 25-23, 26-24.
Satanta is 6-7 overall, and 1-4 in SPIAA play. The Indians host a home quad Sept. 18 that includes Ingalls, Kiowa County, and Fowler.
The South Central Timberwolves played in a triangular in Attica against Attica and Belle Plaine. They went 1-1 in the tri, losing to Attica by scores 25-15, 18-25, 22-25 but beat Belle Plaine 19-25, 25-21, 25-17.
The Timberwolves are now 17-1 overall and 4-0 in SPIAA play. They head to Minneola Sept. 18 to play in a quad with Minneola, Spearville and Pawnee Heights.
According to the Week 2 Kansas Volleyball Association Rankings, the Timberwolves held their No. 2 ranking from week one in Division 1A.
The South Gray Rebels faced Spearville, Hodgeman County and LaCrosse at Spearville Sept. 11.
The Rebels beat the Hodgeman County Longhorns in two sets, beat LaCrosse 25-18, 25-15, and lost to Spearville by scores 19-25, 22-25.
The Rebels are now 9-3 overall and 3-1 in SPIAA play.
They host a quad Sept. 18 involving themselves, Bucklin, Ashland and Hodgeman County.
The Cimarron Bluejays played just once this week, on Sept. 13, taking on the Ingalls Bulldogs in a makeup match. The teams originally played Aug. 30, but the match was suspended due to a power outage. In Thursday's match, the Bluejays won 23-25, 26-24, 25-21.
The Bluejays are now 3-4 overall.
