The Dodge City men's and women's soccer teams each beat the Garden City Broncbusters Wednesday night in Dodge City. Here is how each game went down.

The men's game

Conquistador sophomore forward Anthony Bolivar scored twice in the first half, helping Dodge City take a 2-0 lead into halftime on the way to a 3-0 Dodge City win.

Conquistador head coach Oscar Zelaya said Bolivar played well at practice this week.

"It actually worked out for our good," Zelaya said. "He scored two and missed a couple, but we'll take the positive. The two goals were great goals."

The Conquistadors controlled the game from start to finish, though the Broncbusters got the occasional chance.

In the second half, the Conquistadors waited less than two minutes to expand their lead.

With two teammates approaching the Garden City net as he approached along the attacking left, Conquistador sophomore forward Johnley Dezile opted to take his shot instead of crossing to either of his teammates approaching the front of the net.

It worked, as Dezile's shot went into the back far corner of the net to give the Conquistadors a 3-0 lead with 43:15 left to play in the second half.

Zelaya said so far it was the best game the team has played this season.

"I liked that we moved the ball side to side and everything worked to our advantage," Zelaya said.

With the win, the Conquistadors men's soccer team is 7-2-1 overall.

Women win 2-1 in overtime

In the women’s game, a goal by freshman midfielder Valery Aldaba with .3 seconds left in overtime gave the Conquistadors a 2-1 win over the Broncbusters.

Garden City got on the board first, scoring with just under 32 minutes left in regulation to take a 1-0 lead after a scoreless first half.

Dodge City tied it up with 5:58 left to play in the second half when freshman forward D’Ana Prieto chipped in a shot from a long ways out, sending it over the head of the Garden City goalkeeper Kaylee Keller to tie the game at 1-1.

Both teams had chances, but neither scored in the first half of overtime.

As time wound down, and a draw looked inevitable, Aldaba took a pass from the center of the field and took the ball down the attacking left side, snapping a pinpoint shot into the back of the net.

With the win the Conquistadors women’s soccer team is now 5-5-1 overall.
